Feel Confident in Your Care at Aura

Now that we better understand the risks and spread of COVID-19, we are more prepared than ever to help ensure a safe environment for patients to access care. Our offices are taking the following precautions, as well as requiring participation from patients, to minimize exposure and help you feel confident in receiving the quality dermatological care you deserve.

What You Can Expect from AURA:

  • Extensive Cleaning: We will keep our facilities clean. We are already very good at this and will continue to make this one of our primary goals. You can rest assured that your exam room has been cleaned and disinfected thoroughly before you arrive. Waiting rooms and frequently touched areas will be disinfected throughout the day. Patient brochures/magazines will be removed until further notice.
  • Enforcement of Social Distancing: Our waiting areas have been arranged to provide more separation between seats and markings on the floor indicating appropriate spacing. We are also HIGHLY encouraging patients to wait in their cars whenever possible. You can call the front desk to check-in remotely and our team will send you a text message when we are ready for you. We will also be eliminating check-in and streamlining check out processes. Please have all intake forms filled out prior to your arrival. A staff member will call you 24 hours in advance to confirm your information and complete the check in process.
  • TeleDermatology: We will continue to offer teledermatology visits to high risk patients (>60 y/o, or patient with comorbidities such as compromised respiratory system, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, severe hypertension, liver or kidney disease, internal malignancies, immunosuppression, or tobacco users) or those who are uncomfortable with in-person visits. This will allow our patients to get continued care, be evaluated for new medical conditions, prescribed new medications and obtain medication refills without leaving their home.
  • Limited Schedules: While we are pleased to welcome back more patients, we are doing so with an abundance of caution, limiting the number of appointments each day to have less individuals in our office at the same time. If you have an appointment in the next 30 days, it is possible you may be contacted to reschedule if necessary, in order to achieve this.
  • Please limit office visit complaints to one or two core complaints – prolonged exposure time has been associated with increased risk of COVID-19 transmission.
  • Patient Screening: We will continue to screen all patients with our COVID-19 screening questionnaire prior to your arrival and will be checking patient temperature upon arrival for their appointment. Any patients with COVID-19+ contacts, flu-like symptoms, new onset loss of taste/smell, or fever upon arrival will be advised to reschedule their appointment.
  • Staff Screening: All staff will be screened daily for symptoms of COVID-19 and temperatures will be checked daily, prior to their shifts. Anyone exhibiting symptoms, or who has been in close contact with an individual with symptoms of COVID-19, will be quarantined according to the CDC guidelines.
  • All staff will be wearing personal protective equipment for healthcare workers as required by the CDC.

What You Should Do:

  • Wear a Mask! All patients must wear a mask or facial covering at all times when in our offices. Cloth face coverings are now highly recommended by the CDC for all persons when they have to go out in public, except for young children under age 2, anyone who has trouble breathing, or unable to remove the mask without assistance. In addition, patients should NOT be using a face mask meant for healthcare workers and should be advised to bring their own cloth masks.
  • We also ask that you come to your appointment alone unless you are a minor or you require assistance. If the patient is minor and you need to stay in the car with your other children, we can facetime you during the visit so you are virtually present and able to speak to your child’s provider. If you book back to back appointments for your family members, each patient will be taken into separate rooms at their individual appointment times.
  • Stay Home if You’re Unwell. If you are experiencing fever, chills, muscle aches, cough or shortness of breath, loss of taste/smell, or headaches please call us to reschedule or shift your visit to a telemedicine appointment.
